During your stay in our gîtes in Faudoas, make the most of the Larrazet Festival, to be held on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2026. Located approximately 19 km from Faudoas, about 20 minutes’ drive, Larrazet is hosting this cultural event focusing on the history and current affairs of the media. It’s an interesting way to spend an afternoon, allowing you to discover a local event whilst making the most of your stay in Tarn-et-Garonne.
A cultural event in the heart of Larrazet
The Larrazet Festival 2026 are taking place at the village hall, situated on Avenue Camille Bègue. This 42nd edition focuses on the history, development and contemporary issues facing the media.
Over the course of two days, a number of speakers from a variety of backgrounds will come together to share their knowledge and experiences with the public. Historians, journalists, writers and media experts will take part in discussions on a range of topics, from the evolution of the press to the role of news in today’s society.
The programme therefore provides a better understanding of how the media have evolved over time, whilst also prompting reflection on recent changes linked to digital technology and new ways of using information.
Lectures on the history of the press
On Saturday 21 November, the matches kick off at 2.00 pm with the first section devoted to the historical perspective. Several contributions examine the evolution of the French press, its development over the centuries and the major changes that have shaped the media landscape.
Visitors can, in particular, explore various related topics:
- on the history of the press between the 18th and 20th centuries
- on the development of major French newspapers
- the changes in the journalism profession
- new ways of producing and disseminating information
A round-table discussion on the profession of journalism is then scheduled for Saturday evening at 9.00 pm. It provides a practical insight into the realities of the job, recent developments in the profession and the new challenges facing information professionals.
A second day focusing on today’s media
On Sunday 22 November, the programme resumes at 2.00 pm with a section devoted to current affairs in the media. The various sessions focus, in particular, on how news is constructed, disseminated and received by the public.
These discussions also provide an opportunity to reflect on issues that have become crucial, such as the proliferation of information sources, digital practices, critical thinking and even freedom of information.
This day’s programme thus offers a perspective that complements that of Saturday’s. Having gained a better understanding of the history of the press and the media, visitors can explore current changes and how our relationship with information continues to evolve.
